The Dark Chantments Summary
In the middle of the night, Calwyn wakes and touches Marna. Marna mistakes Calwyn for Calida, Calwyn's mother. she tells Marna it is Calwyn and the Lady Mother recognizes her. Marna tells Calwyn that she must pass on the Goddess's secrets to Calwyn, but Calwyn avoids it by saying she's not initiated.
Marna says that in these times rules must be broken. She tells Calwyn that the secret is in the secret Wheel, but that Calwyn needs the Tenth Power to unlock it. This surprises Calwyn because there are only nine powers. Marna also says the secret Wheel is safe with Calwyn's friends, and then Marna falls back into a deep sleep.
The next morning, Gilly shows up to change Marna's bedding and bring what little food she can. Gilly was once a flirtatious and giggling girl. Now she...
