Moondark Summary
The Daughters of Taris are a group of priestesses that are walking from their home of Antaris to the wall that encloses Antaris to protect it from the rest of the world. The Guardian of the Wall is in front of the line of priestesses and is leading the way. When the Guardian stops, she calls one of the priestesses, Athala, out of the line. The Guardian hands Athala a vial of liquid. Athala drinks and then dies. The other priestesses wrap Athala. The sing s chantment that causes a gap in the wall to form. They place Athala's body inside the gap. Another chantment causes the gap to grow over Athala's body to conceal it. While the rest of the priestesses start to return to Antaris, one priestess stays behind. She knows that her village will never be the same now.
