Summary

Chapter 25 is titled “Sinatra.” Father Amtrak inspired Moehringer to do better, but the notion wore off quickly. He spent the winter of 1984 reading and skipping class without studying or worrying about anything. He spent every weekend at Publicans, returning to Yale on Sunday night. One day, he wondered if he would die or just be injured if he just fell from his second-story window. He saw Sidney that day. The “dean of deans” summoned him, discussing the possibility of Moehringer leaving school. He asked Moehringer if something troubled him. While he was tempted to talk about it – all of it – he felt this man was too far removed from the “madness and lust” that had taken over his life as he imagined Sidney with other men.
