Summary

Chapter 13 is titled “Pat.” Charlie took Moehringer to Shea Stadium one day for a game. They were accompanied by Joey D, Tommy who worked at the stadium, and a woman named Pat. Moehringer did not want a woman in the group, but she immediately endeared herself by saying Moehringer “must be the apple of your mother's eye” (107). She made Moehringer worry by saying she was sure Dorothy missed him. Moehringer heard the men working on bets. At the stadium, Charlie and Tommy had an argument Moehringer did not really understand, ending with Charlie asking Tommy to “Just try.” Tommy led Moehringer across the stadium and through a portal where they were surrounded by the 1976 New York Mets.
