Natsumi's Garden

Natsumi's garden is one of the primary settings of the chapter "Parfait." Years prior, when Natsumi and Nishino were together, Nishino told Natsumi that he wanted to be with her when he died. Although Natsumi scoffed at this idea, just hours before Nishino's death, he appears in Natsumi's garden. Throughout his final moments of life, Natsumi and her daughter Minami stay by Nishino's side in the garden.

Vacant Lot

The vacant lot is one of the central settings of "In the Grass." This lot is one of the only locations where Shiori can go to be alone. She becomes particularly attached to the lot after her mother leaves her father for another man. Almost every time she visits the lot, Shiori buries something in the dirt. The majority of these objects have some association to her mother.
