Summary
Emily’s mother is stunned by Mr. Beeston’s lack of heartbeat. Before anything else can happen, Millie comes out of the side door and goes over to look at him. Opening his coat, she finds an armored vest and wonders aloud why he would need such a thing, realizing that it is the reason that Emily’s mother hadn’t heard a heartbeat.
The boat lists to one side and Millie orders Emily to take the tiller but the boat continues to sway and dip. After another moment or two, she announces that Mr. Beeston is fine, but needs his chakras realigned. She pulls off his shoes and begins working on his feet, only stopping when he is laughing so hard he is begging her to stop.
Mr. Beeston sits up and tells Mary no harm was done, but Emily doesn’t...
