Summary
Though Emily knew her mother had only one rule on Sunday mornings and that was to let her decide when they should start, Emily still ignored the rule so that she could escape with her mother before Mr. Beeston came. She wanted to talk to her mother before he did. Emily sits on the bed and calls to her mother. It takes several attempts including promises of tea and toast before her mother actually agrees and gets up. When they are at the breakfast table, Emily’s mother asks her what they should do about Mr. Beeston and Emily almost chokes.
