Summary
Emily is so captivated by the experience of having a tail that before she knows it, dawn is on the horizon. Promising herself that she’ll return soon, she changes back noting that all it seems to take to do so is her own desire.
Emily only naps briefly before her mother is waking her to get ready for school. Emily had dreamed that her secret had been discovered and wakes up fearful and ready to run. She joins her mother at the table just as she discovers the note Emily tried to write so that she could get out of the swimming lessons before her secret was revealed. She reads the note and to Emily’s surprise isn’t angry with her.
Emily asks her mother why they live in a seaside town, and why particularly on a boat since her mother...
