Summary
In “EuroNeuro,” Alice’s daughter wants to know what first made Alice “begin to forget” (133). She has several possible explanations, wondering if it was her fault. She was bad at keeping in touch. She “left home early and moved” far away (134). The few times she did visit, she was exhausted by Alice’s constant talking. Her ex-husband used to say Alice needed a tranquilizer (135).
After Alice’s husband takes her to Belavista, he tells the housekeeper not to make Alice’s bed. Alice’s bed remains unmade for weeks. Alice’s nurse tells her daughter that Alice is confused. Her father tells her that he misses Alice. Without Alice, her father is no one. When she visits Alice, Alice thinks she will take her home.
