Point of View
The novel features multiple point-of-view characters, using a close third-person narrational mode. In other words, the narration is written in the third person, but it gives access to only one characters’ perspective at any given time. The perspective general shifts between chapters. The main point-of-view characters are George, Isabelle, Prentiss, Landry, and Caleb. The reader may notice from this list that the novel focuses on the perspectives of the protagonist characters rather than on the antagonistic ones. The thoughts, actions, and experiences of these characters help build empathy for the victims of the story’s various scenarios of injustice, while also lauding the efforts of the Walkers, who act as allies to said victims.
