Summary
As Stella gets ready in Chapter 34, the news lists the crises taking place globally. Car pileups, roadblocks, epidemic violence, countless fatalities, and blackouts are just some of the problems being faced by the world. The iceberg in Clachan Fells is mentioned as the largest seen outside the Arctic and the world may be plunging into an Ice Age as temperatures in the UK dip below negative fifty.
