Summary

Carroll found Miranda at Greyfriars in Chapter 1. She approached him during a rehearsal for the end-of-summer-party production. He apologized to her for the first time, but Miranda was angry and refused him. She welcomed his punch so she could defend herself, but before she could, Hugh defended her. Hugh and Miranda spoke in the kitchen in Chapter 2. He shared with her that he did not respect Fisher for the man he was. He pushed her with questions about the murder, to which Miranda did not know the answer. Mrs. Medeiro arrived unexpectedly to deliver lobsters she claimed came “from a friend” (297). Mrs. Medeiro reminds her of the warning she gave her in 1951.

Miranda acknowledged she told everything she knew to Hugh about the murder in Chapter 3. He confirmed that Miranda had not dreamt the man bringing her...
