Summary
In Chapter 8, Miranda and Isobel enjoyed champagne at the Fisher dock the night of the wedding, well after the newlyweds left for their honeymoon. Isobel pretended to drop her engagement ring from Clay into the water, claiming that without Miranda’s “brains,” she needed “a little action” to keep her “happy” (48). She took a flashlight from the boathouse and flashed a message to Joseph at the lighthouse. Isobel insisted Miranda row with her to meet him.
