Summary

The Prologue opens with a description of a beach house in Cape Code that has stood through years of changes, erosion, and rising waters. The house is described as a woman filled with thousands of family conversations and memories, both good and bad, as generations have come and gone. She works tirelessly to show her residents that she knows and cares for all of them. However, she knows changes are coming, and that she is running out of time.
