Summary

In Chapter 12, Sophia remembers her father putting up a tent in the ravine for her to camp. Grandmother had been a Scout leader when she was younger. Sophia asks Grandmother what her days as a Scout had been like, but Grandmother is not really interested in talking about it. Sophia brings her pajamas to the tent alone and waits for the sun to go down. She wakes up scared to the sound of birds and listens to the ravine. She feels more attuned to nature and its beauty.

The next morning, Grandmother is proud that Sophia spent the night in the tent, but she is also heartbroken that she is no longer able to do things like that anymore. She feels like she does not remember her life anymore. Grandmother is upset with Sophia, but she calms herself down and tries to remember...
