Mark Manson
Mark Manson is the author and narrator of The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck. He uses several stories and examples from his own life to illustrate his arguments and he is the only person who appears throughout the whole book. Thus, he may be considered the central character. Mark describes his younger self as smart and friendly, but also as "a rebellious, lying little shithead" (51). He was "angry and full of resentment" and liked to goad adults in relatively harmless teenage ways (51). He writes that he was "a self-absorbed, entitled little prick" (52). Mark suffered some pain in his teenage years, including his parents' divorce and expulsion from school for possession of marijuana.
