Summary
IV (32-36) — A new guest named Ugo Ergom began spending time at the Trentham house. Ugo was an attractive young Italian painter, who had impressed Evan with his experimental pieces. One day, Evan brought his daughters and Lily to visit Ugo at his studio. It was a small space in the city. Evan and Ugo discussed art theory and philosophy as the young girls dutifully absorbed their conversation.
V (37-41) — One night at dinner, Ugo informed Evan and Helena that he was being evicted. Helena offered for Ugo to move in, a decision Evan wholeheartedly agreed with. So Ugo moved in, and was a kind, helpful and lively new member of the Trentham household. He exposed Bea, Eva, Heloise and Lily to art, and gardened and cooked for the family.
