New York

New York is the primary setting for the novel The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. New York City is located in the lower part of New York State, between upstate New York and Long Island. It is the location of John F. Kennedy International Airport. It is where Manhattan, as well as Bolivar's townhouse, are located. New York becomes the primary battleground in the war which Eph, Setrakian, Vasiliy, Nora, and Zack wage against the forces of the Rogue Master.

Poland

Poland is the homeland of Abraham Setrakian and Jusef Sardu. It is where Sardu becomes infected and turned into a vampire in 1873, and where Setrakian suffers in a concentration camp. Poland is also where Setrakian first encounters Sardu, and attempts to defeat him.
