Driving Lesson Summary
When Edgar's mother goes into town, Claude decides to teach Edgar how to drive. The lesson doesn't go well, and Claude becomes unhappy with Edgar, telling him to remember that they have people in common, such as Edgar's mother. Edgar says they also have his father in common.
Driving Lesson Analysis
A personal experience with Claude leaves Edgar feeling as though Claude is attempting to usurp his father's place. But unlike Gar, Claude is combative and abrasive, and this further leads Edgar against Claude.
