A Way to Know for Sure Summary
Edgar knows he needs proof of Claude's crime. In the process, he overhears a conversation between Dr. Papineua and Claude about expanding the dog breed. Claude has also taken over the paperwork aspect of the business.
Edgar believes that some reminder of the night his father was killed with also bring the memory back to Claude, allowing Edgar to gauge Claude's guilt through his reaction.
A Way to Know for Sure Analysis
Edgar is fairly certain that his uncle killed Gar, but now needs proof. He believes he will be able to gauge Claude's reaction to something that will refresh Claude's memory of the night that Gar died. Like Hamlet, Edgar endeavors to bring justice to his father's murder.
