Awakening Summary
Edgar awakes from a deep and peaceful sleep. He is haunted by the night before. Edgar and Claude come face to face, and Edgar fakes a smile in order to hide the fact that Edgar knows something.
Awakening Analysis
Edgar is aware that Claude had something to do with his father's death, and like Hamlet, must put on airs around his uncle in order not to betray his knowledge. Here, the reader connects the sailor in Pusan, the syringe, and Claude together.
