Opportunity for a Second Chance

Multiple characters are faced with second chances, using the opportunity to change their lives in a manner that was not possible before. When the reader first meets the trio of Arthur, Maddy, and Lucille, the three are stuck within their routines that are unfulfilling. Through each other, however, the three are able to find a second lease on life, supporting and guiding one another to find fulfillment and meaning where there was no before.

Second chances serve as second leases for characters, but they are not the same for every character. For Arthur, his life before meeting Maddy is not bereft of security but present is a large emotional space that Nola's death has created.
