Summary
Arthur is ready for his dinner with Lucille and Frank but instead sees Lucille arrive alone, driving wildly. He helps Lucille get out of the car, and she is somewhat sedated, revealing Frank's death and that the doctors gave her medication because she was too hysterical. Arthur consoles Lucille, allowing her to cry on his shoulder and then talking her to comfort her. He then takes her inside and helps finish the dessert that was prepared for dinner. Some time in July, Arthur is at the cemetery and runs into Maddy. He expresses his enthusiasm, affirming that she is his friend. Maddy then reveals her pregnancy and that she has been living with Mr. Lyons and his wife, who also helped get her admission and scholarship into a college that has dorms for single mothers.
