Island Books

Island Books is the main setting in "The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry." A.J. purchased the storefront with his late wife Nic and made it into Alice Island's only bookstore. Most of the novel takes place in the bookstore, as it is A.J.'s pride and joy, as well as his residence in the beginning of the novel. A.J. is intent on stocking only books that he prefers, but he knows he has to stock a few other varieties in order to make enough money to keep his bookstore open. It is because of the bookstore that A.J. meets Maya, since she is dropped off there by a mother who wants her daughter to grow up to be a reader, and Amelia, since Amelia visits Island Books as a publisher sales representative. Island Books is Maya's favorite place until she's a teenager...
