Summary

In Chapter 12, Sunnshyne hands out chocolate-covered pecans during after-school. She gives Wallace a bagful and everyone else, except Rose, one. Wallace admits to himself that he is happy to see Rose “get left out” (80) because he is so unhappy. Vega arrives and unpacks his violin. He has named the instrument 'Ye. Sunnshyne says she and her boyfriend made the candy, though Wallace knows Sunnshyne's mother would not allow her to date. Sunnshyne says she and April have started a detective agency, and that they are going to figure out why Wallace has been spending so much time in the storage room. A boy named Daryl says he is making a logo for one of the gangs. A girl named Quintesha says involvement in the gangs will “get boys big into trouble” (83). Sunnshyne gives Rose a candy.
