Summary

The narrator wakes up with an urgent feeling that she and the Englishman have to get going. She tries to wake the Englishman, but he continues to sleep. The narrator then goes and gets some breakfast, but is disturbed to find the American also in the restaurant. They talk together for a while, with the American trying to convince her that being with the Englishman is more dangerous than she understands. She moves to another part of the restaurant to get away from him, but he continues to speak with her across the space, trying to get her to agree to a plan to turn the Englishman over to him. She speaks sharply and angrily to him, but he seems unperturbed. When the Englishman comes in, he is somewhat surprised to see the American there, but even more disturbed. They make brief...
