Summary

The narrator wakes up next to the Englishman, wondering just how many times – and how many more times – she will be waking up next to strange men, men who had last night seemed so sad and forgivable, last night in a moment when I myself was framed with a blessed light, borne down on soft wings” (50). She wonders how many more mornings she will wake up next to a man whose name she has forgotten even as she describes waking up next to the Englishman. She then makes plans for the day as part of her ongoing efforts to get out of the country, and then has a shower (with the newly purchased shampoo).
