Summary
When Grace arrives at Tim and Rosie’s home in Nova Scotia, she has been driving for days straight. Though she spends the first two weeks in bed in the guest room, she regains her energy by throwing herself into designing a new home for herself and her children. It is a small cape next to Rosie’s home with a few simple luxuries like a washer and record player. Her mother visits twice a year. Grace still has some money, and when she brings the children to visit Gene, she learns that he and the nurse Sarah are in a relationship and living off his inheritance. After Grace buys a camera and falls in love with photography, she begins to plan a freelance career for when her children are in school.
