Summary
As the weeks pass, Grace becomes more and more adept at running the clinic. She talks regularly with Dr. Lighthart over their lunches. He loves skiing, and she finds him to be very elegant. As the pneumonia epidemic worsens, Grace proposes putting up signs advertising for people with bad coughs to consult their local physician, and Dr. Lighthart seconds the idea. After a particularly long day, he drives her home. At dinner, Grace decides to buy her own car the next day. In bed, she opens a letter from Aidan. He says he misses her and that he is touring with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In the morning, Grace goes to a used-car lot, where she quickly realizes that the salesman is a crook.
