The Starless Sea, Unknown, 2015

The Starless Sea is an underground library and sea of honey that individuals are only able to reach when they enter a painted door that leads them to the elevator. The sea itself is receding because of the lack of people who have entered doors since Allegra began burning them. Dorian falls into the sea with Allegra and is rescued by Eleanor, who sails a ship on the sea. The sea begins to flood at the end of the novel, which resets the cycle of the story and makes the library within it rise to the real world.
