Summary
Book 3 begins with “The Ballad of Simon and Eleanor: the naming of things, part I.” A girl falls through a door into the Harbor. She does not recall her name or family, but people call her Eleanor. Meanwhile, Zachary, Mirabel, and an unconscious Dorian are in the elevator. Mirabel explains that shooting the door has rendered it useless. Dorian has to complete the entrance exam to get into the Harbor, but he is unconscious. Mirabel and Zachary do the dice roll and drink the liquid for him. The six dice land on one of each symbol. They meet the Keeper. They lay Dorian down on a bed. Mirabel asks Zachary if he drank anything while he was tied up and then Zachary passes out.
