Summary
Book 2 begins with a section called, “Fortunes and Fables: The Star Merchant.” A traveler does not want to buy stars from a merchant. He tells the merchant a story about Time falling in love with Fate. Meanwhile, Zachary finds himself in an elevator. He exits the elevator and enters a room. He picks up a bag that holds six dice and a stone beneath it instructs him to roll. He rolls the die and they all land on the side with a heart. Then, they disappear. Across the room, there is a glass and a carving instructs him to drink its contents. Zachary obeys. He opens a door and there is a man in the room.
