Bird Hill

Bird Hill is an area on the island of Barbados where Dionne and Phaedra are sent to live with their grandmother when their mother can no longer take care of them. As far as attractions go in Bird Hill, the most notable points of interest are the local church and its adjoining graveyard. Otherwise, it is a predominantly residential community consisting of single family houses and sugarcane fields. The area was once a plantation run by a white slave-owning family, but when the last remaining member of the family passed away the slaves were freed and they took the land for their own.
