Summary
In Chapter 37, as Stu walked through New Hampshire, he met up with another person, a 60-year-old sociology professor named Glen Bateman, and his dog, Kojak. Glen told Stu that he did not believe in God and that his colleagues thought he was a lunatic. Glen, meanwhile, did not care for society. He and Stu discuss a variety of issues like why wolves survived the flu, but most dogs did not. Glen also wondered if babies conceived before the pandemic would survive or humans would die out. He forecast that humans would cause their own demise by gathering in small groups and forming dictatorships. Glen believed with all of the weapons, particularly nuclear warheads, that had been left lying around, it would be easy enough for one dictatorship to destroy the others.
