Oleg Gordievsky
Oleg Gordievsky was a Russian KGB agent who spied for the British over the course of the Cold War. Growing up in Moscow under Soviet influence, Gordievsky never intended to join the KGB, but it was a responsibility thrust upon him. Gordievsky was never truly satisfied in Moscow, after leaving the country in university and observing the Berlin Wall, his distaste for the Communist regime began to grow.
Oleg married Yelena, another KGB agent, out of convenience and to achieve personal goals. Oleg knew that the KGB only sent married men on foreign postings, so Yelena was a means to that end. The plan worked, and Oleg was eventually sent to Copenhagen, where he was approached by M16 and PET to help spy for the West. With his disgust for the Soviets fully developed, it took little convincing to get Gordievsky to spy against his home country...
