Summary
Mary became an anti-aircraft gunner and did not end up marrying Eric. Churchill finally let Colville leave his full-time employ for the RAF and Colville survived the war, alternating between stints with the RAF and his continued work for Churchill. In total, Beaverbrook tried to resign fourteen times before finally ending his public service in February 1942. He was brought back into government as lord privy seal in 1943 and remained Churchill's friend and advisor. Lindemann was vindicated in his assessment of the RAF's strength compared to the Luftwaffe but his aerial mine project never succeeded. Pamela eventually divorced Randolph and continued a relationship with Harriman for a few years before their romance ended. They met again by chance in 1971 and married, staying together until Harriman's death in 1986.
