Summary
Maya tells Bhima about the day she got pregnant. She had been making tea for Banu when Viraf arrived. He had been in a foul mood, complaining about Dinaz being spoiled. Maya had been shocked at the way he spoke. Viraf had apologized to her and pulled her toward him. She had been confused and flattered by his attention. He had never touched her or spoken to her affectionately before. She offered to make him a cup of tea. He told her he would be working on Banu’s accounts, saying at least there he would not have to listen to his nagging wife.
Maya brought Viraf his tea then went to help Banu drink her tea. She then returned to the room where Viraf had been working. He was lying on the bed dozing. He asked Maya to rub some ointment...
