Summary
Sera and Dinaz go to Sera’s friend Aban’s house for an engagement party. Sera looks around the room and at Aban, thinking about having met Feroz at this house. She thinks Aban and her home look messy. Yet, Pervez does not seem to notice any of it and they still seem very much in love.
Aban notices that Sera is quiet and asks if she is missing Feroz. Sera is not sure how to respond. She does not miss Feroz, but she misses “the dream of the marriage” (156). Aban reminisces about a trip the two couples had taken when Sera was first married.
