Summary
Two months have gone by since the abortion. Maya sits day after day in the hut with a blank look on her face. Bhima does not know what to do. She believes she would know the answer if she were educated. Shortly after the abortion, Bhima had encouraged Maya to go back to school or find a job. Maya had reacted with anger. It is now too late for Maya to work for Sera taking care of Banu since the job has been filled. Bhima does not like the thought of Maya working for strangers. By working for Sera, it seems more like helping a friend.
