Summary
Sera sits in her kitchen waiting for Bhima to arrive. She notices that Bhima is late again. She is irritated because she needs Bhima to be there on time to help her pack Viraf’s and Dinaz’s lunches, so they can leave for work. She worries that Viraf will speed if they are late, putting Dinaz, who is pregnant, in danger. Thinking about Dinaz’s pregnancy makes Sera think about Maya’s situation. This makes her feel bad about considering reprimanding Bhima.
Sera begins chopping onions and thinks about how her husband once teased her about the way she chops onions. She hears Viraf whistling, and it makes her happy. She likes the way he is loud, unlike the way her husband had been almost stealthy in his own home. She contemplates what to put in Dinaz’s and Viraf’s...
