Summary
Chapter 4: Elisabeth wants the snail to have a safer and more natural home so her caregiver creates a terrarium for it with plants from its native forest. The terrarium's ecosystem and the snail inside it give Elisabeth something lovely to look at as she continues to watch the snail and learns more about how to care for it.
Chapter 5: The sail always found new sleeping places in the terrarium, prompting Elisabeth to play hide-and-seek with it. She is fond of the elegant way it moves and loves to watch it drink its water from a mussel shell in the terrarium. Observing the snail is one of the only activities that Elisabeth has enough strength and concentration for and doing so makes her feel connected to another creature.
