Jacob Lau

Jacob is the son of Lily Lau and the nephew of John Laudner. When Lily disappears, Jacob moves to Paris, Illinois, to live with John. He has memories associated with Lily's disappearance, but he has dismissed them as unbelievable. After he visits Nod and finds that Lily has been held by fallen angels who live there, Jacob comes to realize that his memories are real and that he knew the details of his mother's abduction, though he did not believe them.

Jacob is skeptical when he begins to discover his power over water, and it takes some time for him to accept that the power is real. He is skeptical of all aspects of the information Dr. Silva gives him and likely would not accept any of it without proof that it is real.
