Tuesday 5th June: Chapters 43-47 Summary
in Chapter Forty-Three, Sophie is surprised at the king's appearance; he looks neither kingly nor psychotic, but she has learned that things are not always as they appear. Sophie also makes a connection between the king and her father. Like the Archon, King Gilgamesh believes he has met Sophie before but remembers witnessing their deaths. Nicholas quickly encourages them to not believe everything the kings says. Palamedes fills the king in on what has taken place and why they want to get the twins out of the country. When Nicholas, who has been hiding, comes out of the shadows of the car, the king is shocked and feels threatened. The chapter ends as he attacks Nicholas with a dagger.
