Chapter 14 Summary

Billy occasionally pops into the mind of the seven year old Sanford Tarter. He sees the boy playing with matches and his mother telling him to pray to Jesus or she'll show him what it feels like to be set on fire as she holds a lighter to his fingers.

The Friday before the Tuesday school board meeting, Eddie goes to Tarter's classroom after school. He speaks to Tarter for the first time. He tells Tarter that he wants to give his testimony on Sunday. Tarter agrees and asks to see the testimony before he gives it out loud in church. Eddie says he'll give it to Tarter Sunday morning.
