Chapter 2 Summary

Billy says when he first dies, he doesn't realize that he's dead. He says the good news is that you don't feel anything—it's a painless process. When he sees Eddie find his body, Billy tries to talk to her but doesn't know how to talk as a spirit or ghost as of yet. Billy says that his could can leave Earth immediately, but when he sees how freaked out Eddie is from finding two dead bodies in a month, he decides to stay.

Eddie starts to see the advantages and disadvantages of being mute. At first, everyone accepts it as part of the grieving process for losing his father and best friend in a one-month period. Then, people get sick of it and start withholding things from him in an attempt to get him to speak and ask for things.
