Billy Jackson

Billy Jackson is the name that Miss Leeson gives to the star she sees out her skylight window. The star is lifegiving to her in that it inspires her and gives her joy, and then in the end it is a doctor named William Jackson who actually saves her life, rescuing her from the room and bringing her to the hospital. The possibility that this doctor is her star in a different form begs the question of whether Miss Leeson has a guardian angel, and in this way, Billy Jackson symbolizes the way that there is something extraordinary even in the most ordinary person.
