Summary
In Chapter 30, Liz and Bean found an old guitar in the attic at Mayfield. Uncle Tinsley said it was their mother’s. Liz began teaching herself to play it. Finally she decided she wanted an instrument that was in better shape so she went to withdraw some money from her savings account to buy it. It was late before she returned with the news that Maddox had taken her money out of the bank and invested it in T-bills, which had a higher interest rate. He’d criticized her when she said she wanted her money for a guitar. Uncle Tinsley overheard Liz complaining to Bean that the money she’d earned was her’s and Maddox shouldn’t be able to tell her what she could do with it.
