Summary
News reaches Asklepiodotus that Allectus plans to defeat his troops before turning his attention to Constantius' troops. Allectus has more than 12,000 troops consisting mostly of marines and mercenaries. Constantius' troops had yet to land in Britain so Asklepiodotus would have no reinforcements for tomorrow's battle. The men wait for Flavius to return to camp with tomorrow's watchword and battle cry which they learn is "Carausius."
Early the next morning, the men take their places in the Auxiliary Cavalry and prepare for battle. Before long, the thundering sound of the approaching enemy puts the men on alert. Flavius hears the trumpet sound and then leads his Legion into battle with the men crying out, "Carausius! Carausius!" The men see a stream of mercenaries headed toward Calleva and Flavius and Justin determine that they must go...
