Infidelity
Infidelity is an important theme in The Silent Wife. Todd's pattern of being unfaithful continues up until the day he dies. Todd has been with Jodi for 20 years, and while he loves the security of the home she has made for them, he also yearns for excitement and new experiences. When Todd is not seeing any other woman in particular, he visits prostitutes.
Jodi is aware of Todd's infidelity but she does not address it until she learns that he has been having an affair with Natasha, the daughter of his childhood friend. Natasha is pregnant and Todd commits to marry her. This is the last straw for Jodi because she is in danger of losing her lifestyle. Todd's infidelity has never jeopardized her to this degree before.
