Summary
45-year-old Jodi Brett makes dinner in her high-rise Chicago condominium, contemplating the comfortable life that she has created with her long-term partner, Todd Gilbert. Their 20-year relationship is crumbling, however, and it will take only a few months for Jodi to turn into a killer. Their dog, Freud, waits for scraps as she continues with the dinner preparation ritual. Jodi recalls the rainy day she met Todd when she was moving household items in a van which collided with Todd's car. A few days later, he took her to dinner and they have been together ever since. At the time of their meeting, Todd's real estate development business was just in its early stages but Jodi was impressed by the way he moved through life, so different from the college boys she was used to.
